Product Recall: Southwire Recalls Electrical Outlet Boxes

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled approximately 3000 Garvin Pop-Up Electrical Outlet Floor Box Kit. It was due to the three reports that these outlet boxes overheat, which could potentially impose fire hazards.

These Garvin Pop-Up Electrical Outlet Floor Box Kits, with a finish of either stainless steel or brushed brass, have two electrical receptacles and two USB ports. These are installed into floors and have metal lids that open and close to reveal its receptacles and USB ports.

There are no reports of injuries. However, to ensure that the users are safe, they are instructed to unplug all electrical devices and contact Southwire for a full refund.

These outlet boxes were sold at garvinindustries.com, acdcusa.com, cesco.com, gordonelectricsupply.com, platt.com, and usesi.com from January 2016 through August 2018 for about $90.
